A gift of recess

I woke up this morning feeling a strong sense of calm. And as I lay in bed, observing this, I noticed a series of blocks floating down from above me. One after another, large blocks were dropping down from over my head. It was odd but not frightening as somehow, I knew that these blocks dropping all around me were full of calm. “What is this?” I asked. “It is exactly what you think it is,” the Grandmothers replied, “deposits of calm.” And when I heard the Grandmothers speak, I quickly focused within myself.
Cubicles of energy, rectangular in shape, were softly raining down on me. Like big freight car loads of cotton. Down, down they slowly dropped, and one-by-one, they filled the area around me. Now they were piled up beside me. They were a light color, not a brilliant white,
but white-ish in color. Like cotton.
The Grandmothers took a look at my bewildered expression and said, “This is an interim period, a short period of calm.” And when they said this, I understood that they were speaking of a two- or three-day period. “Soon,” they said, “there will be more storms and more drama, but for now enjoy the quiet. Open to receiving this comfort we are sending you now. Let it do its job; let it restore you. Rest in this quiet, soft place,” they said. “Rest and repair,” and I took in a deep breath.
“You will be able to weather all the storms, winds and tornadoes that will come soon,” they said and I knew when they said this, they weren’t speaking only of physical events. “But now you must rest,” they said. “Take the time to do that. Rest now. Enjoy this period of peace and comfort,” they said, smiling sweetly. “Everything is evolving in its own time,” they emphasized. “You can not control the process. You cannot stop it, nor can you rush it.
“From time to time, we will give you periods of rest like this,” they said, “and we advise you to take full advantage of them. Remember when you were in school,” they laughed, “how you used to love recess? Well, this is a recess,” they said. “You have a few days of recess, so take them.”
Sharon’s note: I’m going to take the Grandmothers at their word and hope you will too. We need this rest.
